When life gets busy, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters.
Every now and then, a moment of clarity breaks through — a reminder that life is short, unpredictable, and incredibly precious.
For me, that moment came at 23.
My closest friend, Michael, passed away suddenly from a heart condition he had been told was not a cause for concern. This loss shook me and changed how I understood time, health, and the assumptions we make about tomorrow.
I delivered his eulogy, one of the most challenging and humbling experiences of my life. In that moment, a simple but powerful truth crystallized for me:
“The legacy we leave tomorrow is written by the choices we make today.”
Years later, during a routine checkup, I learned that I had the same heart condition that took Michael’s life — along with another serious diagnosis.
Somewhere along the way, I came to believe that everything happens for a reason — not as a rule, but as a way of choosing meaning instead of fear.
It taught me something important that I’d like to share with you:
Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed — but meaning always is.
